Review Of Yamaha Fazer

Bikes always facinated me right from my beginning  . Was planning to buy one which would be of my taste and style . Those bikes were either imported / un affordable or had objection from family and friends . And most importantly they failed to be in my radar after few months / years . The decision kept on changing till summer of 2009 when The Yamaha Fazer  a touring motorcycle produced by India Yamaha Motor, a subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Company was launched . As a serial trekker and weekend traveller i needed a strong realiable companion and was happy that  India finally has a "Touring Motorcycle" I wished it had been a Indian manufacturer but somewhere down under i am happy-sad  - that they get to know there are people who buy performance bikes & Yamaha Bikes are known for its quality and performance .-  Hope Bajaj & TATA are listening .This is written after riding 3300 Kms + couple of short trips .

Earlier, the 150cc segment was totally dominated by the Bajaj Pulsar and Hero Honda CBZ but the Yamaha is, now, giving tough competition to these bikes. The Yamaha Fazer price is bit higher for 150cc segment but still it is continuously doing well in Indian motorcycle market because of its overall smart design, higher quality levels, full digital console and Yamaha’s brand name. The high performance engine offers excellent power, torque and acceleration. Its stylish and aggressive look (A.K.A - Demon Look , As my boss calls it ), comfy riding position with antiskid seat skin, wider tyres with light weight alloy wheels, attract the youth and sports bike lovers.
The Yamaha Fazer 153cc is available only with one variant and four exciting colours. The 153cc, 4-stroke, Air-Cooled, SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) petrol engine is also endowed with five speed manual transmission. This 153cc power-plant produces good power and torque. It produces 14PS of maximum power at 7500 rpm with 14Nm of maximum torque 6000 rpm. This higher level of power and torque results excellent acceleration so thatYamaha Fazer can break the barrier of 60kmph in just 5.2 seconds and it can touch the top speed mark of 108.8 kmph.
( After which engine becomes sluggish )

The 12 liter larger fuel tank makes it able for long and stress free journey on highway. TheYamaha Fazer is loaded with a number of advanced features that offer excellent ridability. I would sometimes kiss the road with my footrest at the corners and still be 100% control on the bike . Some of its striking features are its aerodynamic large cowl and wind shield make it stylish as well as protect rider from wind blast on highway. Its excellent riding posture makes the long journey on highway more comfortable. Yamaha Fazer is the first bike in Indian auto market which is loaded with the mid-ship muffler that concentrates weight close to gravity point and offers excellent riding control. Its trendy rear view mirrors, sleek graphic design and sporty twin headlamps add more style to the bike. The Yamaha Fazer is packed with the widest rear radial tyre that makes its grip and control better at rough or slippery road and at high speed. Its sporty digital console LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) meters with carbon patterns make it more stylish and offer clear vision.

Fazer has the "140/60-17" size rear radial tyre with a 60% aspect ratio contributes to better grip and handling stability. - Widest Of Any Indian Bike

Riding posture designed to prevent fatigue and make long journeys more comfortable.
New design mirrors not only look trendy, but also add to safety with a better rear view.

Fuel Efficiency figures data may cause a let down for some, because Yamaha Fazer manages to return an average fuel efficiency figure of 45 kmpl, which is low for a 150cc bike. And to answer the question is higher Kerb weight, but if you are a rev lover, then be ready to drain in most your bucks for feeding its hungry fuel tank.

On concluding note, Yamaha Fazer is undoubtedly one of the most stylish 150cc bike, but the higher price tag and the low fuel efficiency are the only turn-offs for a potential buyers in this segment. At the price of Fazer, there are a few powerful set of wheels available such as Hero Honda Karizma, TVS Apache RTR 180, Bajaj Pulsar 220 to name a few, However, In a nutshell, if you want a ride which is an absolute combination of sports-bike type head turning design , power and best quality ride then look no further than Yamaha Fazer.
